Notice to the Public

News Update

The City of Show Low, as sponsor of Show Low Regional Airport, intends to construct helicopter parking pads at the Airport. The improvements would provide two dedicated parking areas for helicopters operating at the Airport. The helicopter parking pads would encompass a pavement footprint of approximately 105 feet in width and 90 feet in length. Additionally, the Airport intends to construct an apron expansion to accommodate aerial firefighting aircraft operating at the airport. The proposed apron expansion would encompass a pavement footprint of approximately 200 feet in width and 300 feet in length. The improvements would have no anticipated impacts to the floodplain’s natural functions. The project area has been previously disturbed by the site grading from original construction of the airport and maintenance activities. The proposed project would not require major changes to the existing drainage. The functions of the existing floodplain would not be impacted as a result of the proposed project.

Due to the City seeking Federal Aviation Administration funding and approval of federal actions occurring within a 500-year floodplain, a public notice and opportunity for comment is being provided. The public may submit comments on the proposed projects and their potential effects on the 500-year floodplain for a period of thirty (30) days following the publication of this notice.

All comments received during the review period will be taken into consideration prior to the FAA making an environmental determination.

Please contact jallen@showlowaz.gov for questions or additional information regarding the proposed project.
