The
city has been notified that the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT)
will resume work on the widening and improvement project on US60 (Deuce of
Clubs) from SR77 east to 40th Street, following a winter shutdown. Once
completed, the $5 million
project will enhance traffic flow and decrease congestion from heavy commercial
traffic.
ADOT
has announced the following traffic restrictions on US60 and SR77 from May 21
through June 15:
r Monday, May 21 – Thursday, May 24: US60 from Automall
Parkway east to 40th Street will be reduced to one lane in each direction
during daylight hours. All lanes will reopen by noon Thursday, May 24, before
the Memorial Day weekend.
r Tuesday, May 29 – Friday, June 8: The westbound curb lane on US60 will be closed from
SR77 west to Adams throughout the day. In addition, the right-turn lane on SR77
at US60 will be closed during daylight hours.
r Monday, June 11 – Friday, June 15: US60 will be
reduced to one lane in each direction within the work zone during daylight
hours as a final, top layer of rubberized asphalt is applied to the roadway.
r Thursday, June 14, from
8 p.m. to 4 a.m.: The US60.SR77 intersection
will be closed for paving. If temperatures fall below ideal conditions to place
and compact the final top layer of pavement, this portion of the pavement work will
be rescheduled for a yet-to-be-determined day (to be announced). Motorists are
advised to find alternate routes and avoid the area around the intersection
during these hours to avoid significant delays.
Both
ADOT and the city thank our citizens and visitors for their patience while this
important project is being completed.
