[ARCHIVED] Show Low Announces Upgrades at City Park

New fitness zone for adults and planned children’s playground upgrades

SHOW LOW, Ariz. (November 20, 2017) – Show Low City Park, a local favorite at 1100 West Deuce of Clubs, now boasts a state-of-the-art Fitness Zone for ages 14 and older. Over the past few weeks, outdoor exercise equipment and systems were installed in an area west of the Show Low Family Aquatic Center, off the City Park walking trail. Instructions on how to use each piece of equipment are posted. There is a cross-country ski system for cardio plus specialized equipment that targets muscles in the chest, shoulders, back, legs and abdominals. Future plans include constructing a concrete border and adding engineered-wood fiber as surface material. The cost of the fitness equipment was a 50/50 cost-share between the City of Show Low and a fitness equipment manufacturer.

Next spring, the children’s playground near the Little League field along Owens will receive a major facelift. The purchase of two sets of playground structures — a single story geared for ages 2 to 5 years and a double-decker for five to 12 years — were approved by the Show Low City Council. The structures, which share a lookout motif, feature a broad range of components, including climbing and spinning features, slides, swings, seesaws and a zip line. There are both attached and solo features.

In addition, general landscaping improvements will be made to the west side of the Little League field and the parking area will be reconfigured.
