Gun Locks

Every firearm owner has a responsibility to know how to secure a firearm in a safe manner, especially in situations where a child might have access to the weapon.

Now, through a nationwide program developed by the National Shooting Sports Foundation and supported through a U.S. Department of Justice grant, the Show Low Police Department is able to help in this endeavor by providing the public with free gun lock safety kits.

Project ChildSafe

Project ChildSafe was established to help ensure safe and responsible firearm ownership and storage.

The program’s safety kit consists of an armored steel cable with one end permanently secured to a keyed padlock. When installed properly on an unloaded firearm, the gun lock will prevent the firearm’s action from closing. The kit also includes an installation guide and safety booklet.
