About the Aquatic Center Fitness Classes
The Show Low Family Aquatic Center offers a wide variety of fitness classes to those interested in exercising in the water. Come and exercise, meet new friends, reduce your stress, and relax in the weightlessness of the pool water. We keep our pool temperature at 83-84 degrees so it is a very comfortable climate to enjoy your water exercise. Water exercise classes are designed for all fitness levels. Getting your hair wet and having swimming skills are not required!
Exercising in the Water
Water is 12 times more resistant than air, allowing tripled strength gains over land aerobics. Water helps cool the body during exercise. Water supports muscle promoting more efficient toning. Workouts in the water are refreshing. Water cushions the impact of exercise while reducing stress on joints. Exercise in the warm water eases muscle spasms and relaxes tight muscles, increases blood circulation and promotes more fluid joint motion. Some of the benefits of exercising in the water include:
The American College of Sports Medicine suggest rhythmic, continuous exercise 3 - 5 days a week for 20 to 60 minutes depending on the exercise.
