Traffic Enforcement

This is a vital and high-priority area. Traffic accidents account for the highest number of incidents of property damage, injuries and long-term loss and suffering. Our officers are trained and equipped in an on-going effort to address this problem, which ultimately affects everyone in the community.

 Enforcement efforts include Child Seat Education and distribution; motorcycle patrol, ad-hoc task force and special area enforcement. The department was awarded funding from the Governor's Office of Highway Safety specifically for extra traffic enforcement, which resulted in a high total of additional traffic contacts over the last few months of the year.
