Gentle Yoga |

Gentle
Yoga, Sunrise Yoga Format creates a balanced flow of movements. The Format
focuses on core and stabilizing techniques that unify body movements by
coordinating breathing and relaxation. Your Instructor will guide and lead
you to the poses through personal training expertise. It will make your Yoga
practice easy to follow. You will achieve strengthen the proper alignment
and this is also an effective way to strengthen and tone your muscles. As
you gain strength with your practice, you will feel the inner connection
between mind, body and spirit. Minimum of 8 students and a maximum of 15.
Classes will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00am to 10:00am at the City
Campus Studio at 7th Street and McNeil.

Tai Chi / Chi
Kung

Energy and breath efficiently flow through the entire body, increasing
inner strength and improving circulation. Heal and strengthen vital
organs, resulting in good health and increased longevity. It is an
excellent tool for mediation, calms your mind and is easy to follow. Chi
Kung practice benefits include: reducing stress, lowering blood
pressure, eliminating lower back pain, weight loss and rejuvenate your
life force. Minimum of 8 students and a maximum of 25. (You may be
seated for Chi Kung practice). Tuesdays and Thursdays 10:00am to

Dance Aerobic /
Kick Boxing / Belly Dance

A little wiggle, a little shake, a little jab and a little
shimmy. This enjoyable combination of dance movements is lots of
fun and easy to follow. It will increase cardiovascular fitness,
muscular strength and endurance; and also improve balance, coordination,
flexibility and develop a good posture. You will feel more energized and
young again. *Make sure you bring bottled water. Maximum number
of students is 15 for this class. Tuesdays and Thursdays 11:00am to
12:00pm at City Campus Studio 7th Street and McNeil.

Summer Play Days 2010
|
Summer Play Day’s 2010 is a drop-in recreation program for boys and
girls 5-12 years old. In SPD’10 youth will make friends while playing
sports, making crafts, swimming, field trips and just having fun hanging
out with youth their own age. This year we have No Scholarships
available, payments must be paid in full the time of registration.
Breakfast & lunch will be provided. Space
is limited, so register today. SPD’10 will be held at the Show Low City
Campus located at 7th street and McNeil.
THIS PROGRAM IS A DROP-IN RECREATION PROGRAM AND IT IS NOT LICENSED BY
THE STATE OF ARIZONA.

Healthy
Hikes
|
Enjoy Healthy Hikes Monday Mornings this Summer with the Show Low Parks
& Recreation Healthy Hikes Program. Meet at the Senior Center, 301 E.
McNeil at 7:30am or at the trailhead at 7:45am.
Arrive on time. Be sure you are capable of hiking 4-5 miles
at a regular pace. Wear hiking shoes and be equipped with water. Stay
on designated trails - no short cuts. No dogs on group hikes, please.
Remain with the group at all times and enjoy the beautiful White
Mountains. These hikes are moderate to hard, for ages 10 & older. |

Flat Water Kayaking (Parts 1-3)
|
A
three-part, monthly series is offered to facilitate the mastery of
paddling skills over time. The day starts with a brief (15 min.)
dock-side meeting and then we paddle for 1-2 hours of fun! Costs
include: kayak rental, paddle, safety personal floatation device,
instruction and waterway guidance. Participants must bring: sunscreen,
snack bars and water bottles.
Part 1 (Beginning Level):
We paddle Show Low Lake & explore lake shore flora & the bluff
and shore lines. Emphasis: skills such as dock cock/pit entry/exit &
kayak balance, “Leave-no-trace” water etiquette, kayak terminology and
water safety.
Part 2 (Intermediate
Level): We
paddle Rainbow Lake while we maneuver through several canal-like
fingers & trace the dock-line of elegant resort residences. Emphasis:
Intermediate skills such as effective paddle stroke mechanics, basic
steering/turning techniques and basic open-water orienteering &
description on the multiple uses of kayaking such as adventure/
recreation fishing.
Part 3 (Advanced-Level):
We paddle
Fool Hollow Lake, considered by many to be the “crown jewel” of
public lakes in the White Mountains area. Kayakers will thrill at
abundant bird watching opportunities as well hunt for “first peoples’”
petroglyphs on cliff shorelines. Emphasis: advanced paddling skills such
as open-water “wet exit/entry”, advanced steering/turning techniques and
advanced open-water orienteering and advice on purchasing an adventure
kayak. Location varies for each part, meet at the lakes
described above. For ages 12 & older (minors, 12 to 17, must be
accompanied by an adult).

GPS 101 and Geocaching |
|
Geocaching is a
high-tech treasure hunting game played throughout the world by adventure
seekers equipped with GPS devices. The basic idea is to locate hidden
containers, called geocaches, outdoors and then share your experiences
online. Geocaching is enjoyed by people from all age groups, with a
strong sense of community and support for the environment. This class
will explore the basics of global tracking and how GPS receivers work,
then we put the knowledge to use by going out and becoming real-life
treasure hunters. You do not need to have your own GPS device to
participate in this class. Meet at the Teen Center on 7th St. & McNeil.
This is for anyone 10 & older.
