Check out this twist on 'go fetch'.  Dogs compete to see who can
retrieve the tennis ball the fastest.  First Dog Sports brings this fast paced race to Dog Days of Summer. 

   
8:00 am Agility Fun Runs - White Mountain Kennel Club
Arena B

Take your dog through this fun agility course provided by the White Mountain Kennel Club. Learn more about this sport from the members of the AZ WMKC.

Fill a Fuller Brush (Shedding) sponsored by Tally Wags

Divided into 3 height categories  |  Arena A

Best Shedder – Handlers have one minute to brush their dog.  One handler holds plastic bags (we furnish) while other brushes and passes hair. Handler supplies their own grooming tool.  No Furminators!

Who’s the Boss Agility Course - sponsored by White Mountain Kennel Club

Divided into 3 height categories  |  Arena B

Agility. Up the ramp to balance beam across to down ramp, teeter-totter, slalom, Hoop Tunnel (Handler must go through tunnel with the dog). Best time wins.

Sky Houndz Canine Disc Local Championship - sponsored by Show Low Parks & Recreation

Open to all sizes and ages  |  Arena C

Disc Contest, Accuracy and Distance. Dogs and Handler compete against the clock as they see how many times they can complete accurate catches in a 1:00 minute period.  Full rules available on line at www.skyhoundz.com  Most points scored wins.  Registration at 9:00 a.m., contest begins at 9:30 a.m.

Police Dog Demonstrations.   Check out the action as a Show Low Police Canine Unit demonstrates the skills they use to help keep our community safe.

I’ve Got Rhythm Musical Sit - sponsored by Power 95.7

Open to all sizes and ages  |  Arena A

Think musical chairs, For your dog.  When music starts, handlers with dogs on leashes, walk in a circle. Music stops, handler commands dog to sit. Last dog to sit is out till 3 dogs remain & compete for top dog.

Rip Van Winkle Sleep Off - sponsored by Jill Tinkel’s State Farm Agency

Open to all sizes and ages  |  Arena A

Dog lying down the longest without moving (up to 60 sec.) wins. Heads cannot flop, ears cannot wiggle or tails wag. Handlers can pet, stroke and coo to their dogs during competition.

Dog Dancing Demonstrations -

Open to all sizes and ages  |  Arena A
Watch and enjoy the teamwork as the Double Deuce Dog Dancers perform a variety of obedience skills to music.  Children of all ages can dance with their 4-legged partners to this fun sport.  You are bound to feel you foot (or paw) tapping to the fun.

Me and My Mutt Look-a-Like Contest - sponsored by Perfect Paws

Open to all sizes and ages  |  Arena A

Best looking pair of owner and mutt.  Participants will be judged on the level of resemblance between owner and canine.  Judges decision.

Most interesting looking offspring from combination of parents.  Winner based on popular vote.  Vote for the dog, not the handler.

Peanut Butter Lick – Dr. Hall, Aspen Ridge Animal Hospital

Divided into 3 height categories  |  Arena A

Who can empty the spoon of peanut butter the fastest? Did we mention the spoon’s handle is in the owner’s mouth? No hands allowed! Handler kneels in the grass and on the signal of the MC puts the padded spoon in their mouth.  As soon as the dog has finished, stand up and hold the spoon in the air.  Spoons must be empty of peanut butter. First 3 win..

Paws in the Park Dog Walk

Open to everyone  |  Left field gate, Show Low City Park Trail

Participants and spectators can finish the day’s events with a group dog walk around Show Low City Park. The dog walk is a self lead activity with participants finishing at their own pace.
