Special Response Team

SRT Formation

The Show Low Police Department’s Special Response Team (SRT) was formed in 1998. The team’s formation was in response to rapid population growth in Southern Navajo County and the need for specialized response to hazardous and high risk events.

The unit has grown over the years to become a multi-agency team with members from Show Low Police Department, Navajo County Sheriff's Office, Pinetop-Lakeside Police Department, Snowflake-Taylor Police Department, Winslow Police Department and St. Johns and Springerville Police Departments.

Training & Community Assistance

Members of the SRT team attend extensive training. A few of the courses are basic SWAT school, advanced SWAT school, active shooter, chemical munitions, explosive breaching, and many more.
The Special Response Team regularly assists Navajo County law enforcement agencies with high risk search and arrest warrants, apprehension of known serious offenders, violent felons, and search and rescue operations.
